El Catrin

On Sunday night I went out to dinner to one of the most delicious Mexican places in Toronto and I took zero pictures of the food to share with you. I keep telling myself that if I want to capture life as it happens, I really need to start taking more pictures because a picture is worth a thousand words and I do not have the words to describe how mouth watering and flavourful the food was.

El Catrin is located in Toronto’s distillery district. If it wasn’t so damn freezing, I would be able to tell you how pretty the area is but I ran from the car into the restaurant. Trekking out in the cold was worth it though. The place serves authentic traditional Mexican cuisine. The guacamole is made right in front of you and even though I think I don’t love cilantro, I couldn’t get enough of it. Their menu is meant to be shared but I’m not good at sharing. I ordered the shrimp and lobster tacos thinking I would offer maybe one but nope, they were so good that I was refraining from licking the salsa from my plate.

The restaurant is a great place to meet with friends, go on a date or even an enjoyable place to take the kids. They have a “young amigos” menu! Apparently, the summer is an even better time to visit because they have an impressive patio so I will be going back. I may suck at remembering to take pictures of their food and amazing dรฉcor but luckily there are some on their website to show you what I mean. http://www.elcatrin.ca/photos

If I started a Marbair’s best restaurant list, this would be on the list for sure! If you are ever in the mood for Mexican, El Catrin is the place to go!
